TRekking Ta Lien Son ( 2996m) is in top 10 highest and most difficult mountains in Vietnam. Fantastic mountain scenry, interesting, challenging journey.
2nd hike in Lai ChΓ’u which is 80km away from Sapa. To get to the trailhead, we need to travel 10km on motorbike. The roads were narrow and hilly. Super thrilling and fun! π
The terrain was a lot more familiar like those Malaysia forest where it transit from tropical forest to mossy forest to wet and muddy trails before reaching the peak.
We were supposed to hike to summit on 2nd day but since we reached the hut early on 1st day, we decided to hit straight to summit after lunch. While the first half of the trail was easy, the second half of the trail wasn’t. I was basically on all fours most of the time, grabbing to whatever roots or branches I can to pull myself up. π
It was a pity that the weather was foggy else I can imagine a much more beautiful summit view with mountain ranges in the backdrop. Well, hiking is all about luck. On hindsight, we were thankful that it wasn’t raining!
Overall, I enjoyed this hike more than Fansipan. It’s ranked easier but i felt it was more technical where hands and legs were all needed for some sections of the trail.”
