Ta Xua mountain ( Now with new name is PHU SA PHIN) is located in Tram Tau commune, Yen Bai province, ( Now is Hanh Phuc commune, Lao Cai province) which has an elevation of over 2.800m above the sea, in the Top 10 highest mountains in Vietnam.

Amazing Vietnam hike

We (2 pax) booked the 3 days, 2 nights Ta Xua hike in November from Hanoi and had an absolutely amazing time. Zoni arranged everything perfectly, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience. Our transport from Hanoi to Tram Tau was very smooth and we enjoyed the beautiful landscapes along the way. We spent some time at the hot springs in Tram Tau, which was very relaxing.
Our stay at Zonihome was comfortable and the food was delicious. We personally also enjoyed the company of one of their two cats, named after the happy water (which was also delicious).
The hike itself was challenging but truly worth it, with stunning views. We went during the weekdays, during which the trek was really quiet. We only saw a couple of other people along the way.
Our guide was able to communicate with us through Google Translate, which worked very well. He suggested to reach the Ta Xua peak on day one of the hike, which allowed us to visit a better spot for watching the sunrise the morning after. He also went the extra mile with preparing lunch, dinner and breakfast for us. This was all really appreciated! The stay in the shed was better than expected, albeit quite cold. The numerous blankets provided enough warmth.
The descent and return was also really comfortable, albeit a bit rushed since we had to grab a transfer in Hanoi. All in all this was one of the highlights of our Vietnam trip so I would truly recommend if you like hiking.

A very pleasant trip, the leader Nghia team provided the best quality service, the most surprising to me was the meals in the mountain house, grilled chicken, barbecue, hot pot.
The host was very friendly and we had dinner for four days, each dish carefully prepared with superb cooking skills.

Our group of 11 had an unforgettable 2D1N hiking experience up Ta Xua, and we were lucky to enjoy breathtaking views on both days.
From start to finish, communication with Nghia was seamless. She was incredibly responsive prior to the trek and went out of her way to accommodate us. She was so sweet and welcoming, and made us feel safe and well-cared for throughout the hike. Nghia’s knowledge of the area and Vietnam’s rich culture truly enriched our journey and we learned so much from her. We really enjoyed conversing with her during our journey!
The homestay was absolutely charming. It was so cozy, comfortable, and the perfect place to rest before and after our hike.
The hut that we stayed at atop the mountain has a beautiful view of the scenery. Though cold, we still had a long, comfortable sleep with mattresses and thick weighted blankets provided for us.
The food they prepared was scrumptious, and they made sure we were always well-fed with delicious, home-cooked meals.
A delightful bonus were the playful dogs at both the homestay and along the trail. They added a fun, lighthearted touch to the experience and were an unexpected joy.
This trip exceeded all expectations, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable, immersive, and well-organised adventure.
Great Trip to Taxua!

Solo traveler. Great communication with Nghai prior to the trip to Taxua as this place is still quite an untapped part of Vietnam. The transport and accommodation are well organized and I had a lovely time in Zonihomes. For the trekking trip in Taxua, Lan was a good mountain guide and I was blessed with great weather to see the best of Taxua. Indeed it was a worthy trip and everyone coming here should connect with Zoni trip. Perhaps the next round I should try the other peak of Ta Chu Ni.
Trekking Ta Xua on January 15, 2019
I decided very spontaneously to go explore the area and have to thank Nghia for being up for it and taking care of the logistics on such short notice. You couldn’t ask for a better guide and company. She is very welcoming and warm, with lots of stories to tell you about the region and Viet Nam in general – be it history or culture.
While doing the trip she was always engaging me with the people living in the mountains – starting off conversations, showing their homes and their work so that you could actually stop in order to get a real glimpse into their lives as opposed to just passing by or watching from afar.
We had a relatively tight and somewhat taxing schedule but I am very glad Nghia took it in stride and tried to include everything I wanted to see. In the end, it turned out to be so much more and she exceeded my expectations by far.
I can only recommend discovering northern Viet Nam with Nghia and Zonitrip. You will get an unforgettable experience tailored to your wishes and off the beaten paths and – if you like – quite adventurous as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to go with them again.
