We will spend 30 minutes in the morning for the guide to do a briefing about the trip and how to ride in Vietnam. There is also time for you to get acquainted with the bike before we start our trip to Thac Ba Lake which has an area of 23000 ha and over 1300 islands and hills with diverse ecological environments.
– We arrive at Vu Linh ethnic village of Dao minority by the side of the lake, it is your time to do leisure walk to explore this beautiful village and people life.
At night, there is a special welcome with a lot of local rice-wine from the hosts, which is surely one of the highlights of the trip. Overnight in homestay.

After the breakfast, our crew continues to ride along Thac Ba Lake on a bumpy road, shadowed by the line of trees on 2 sides and naturally decorated by the massive mountains. Today we will have one of the best NORTHEAST VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOUR. The ride is mostly on small challenging mountain roads (but incredibly beautiful) on the land of colorful hill-tribes. We will be on some of the most beautiful passes in Vietnam such as the Ma Pi Leng, ‘Heaven Gate’ pass.
Here is also a good chance to learn and experience the colorful culture of local tribes. You will see unending rice fields, thousands of limestone rocks and breath-taking views.

Today we will have one of the best North Vietnam Motorbike loop. The ride today is mostly on small challenging mountain roads (but incredibly beautiful) on the land of colorful hill-tribes. We will be on some of the most beautiful passes in Vietnam such as the Ma Pi Leng, ‘Heaven Gate’ pass.
We will drive to the peak of Ma Pi Leng which gives stunning views of the mountains and sweeping valleys. It’s the most beautiful part of the whole journey, located on the Happiness road connecting the towns of Dong Van and Meo Vac, Ma Pi Leng Pass. The legendary pass is well known for craggy cliffs and breath-taking views. It is the greatest pass in the north, often referred to as the “king” of the passes in Vietnam! The whole road is winding through the cliffs and overcomes Ma Pi Leng pass at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
The road has been cut into the side of the cliff face and far below are the distant waters of the Nho Que river.
Option 1: If you don’t want to be much dangerous, after riding on Ma Pi Leng pass, we will arrange around 2hrs for motorbike, trekking down and boating or Kayaking time on Nho Que river before continue riding to Bao Lac by the main road.

Terrain: ~70% asphalt, 30% concrete and a little bit offroad.
Option 2: If you like offroad and challenging your driving skill, and using an offroad bike, we will arrange the road travel down to Nho Que river ( following the road from Khau Vai ( Meo Vac) – Bao Lac). The road leads you through the muddy trail, local path, cross the river by bamboo raft.
Terrain: 30% concrete road, 70% offroad.

To save time for the boat trip in Ba Be lake, We should start the day earlier so after breakfast, we start riding at around 8.am. Today is exactly the best offroad Vietnam motorbike tour. Just after 20km from Bao Lac we turn to the narrow and bumpy roads with breathtaking views of terrace rice paddies. Especially, we have to cross a few rivers instead of riding on some bamboo bridges. Finishing the memorable riding day with lunch in a peaceful village of the Tay people nearby Ba be lake.
It’s time for relaxing on one of the most beautiful and biggest natural lake in Vietnam in the afternoon.

At the end of the day, we arrive in Pac Ngoi village – a community consisting of Tay people on the side of Ba Be Lake. After that you can relax and unwind from the day and enjoy a meal of home cooked local food.
You will depart for the journey back Hanoi, a drive of approximately 220 kilometers. We will stop at some tea plantations before returning to your hotel in the bustling city of Hanoi.

We did a fantastic trip to travel around North east Vietnam motorbike tour last month. We traveled from Hanoi to Ha Giang Geopark Rock Plateau (the highlight of our trip with amazing Rock landscape and colorful ethnic group people), travelled to Ba Be lake & Ban Gioc water fall.
Nghia and her Zonitrip’s team are top notch tourism professionals. They have good riding skills, the knowledge about local cuture and made the best arrangements to make sure our group got the best riding possible. The best riding I have ever experienced. My friends whom are better riders than me were also treated to much more advanced riding segments.

One of the most remarkable tours I`ve been on.
I`m from Norway, and have for a while been playing with the thought of doing a “North Vietnam Motorbike loop, a country which has fascinated me since I was a child. By searching Google I found the company “Zonitrip” offering different options for such tours. I chose the “9 day motorbike tour in North Vietnam” and was picked up at my hotel in Hanoi by Nghia, the owner of Zonitrip. On each our bike we started the tour from there. Nghia is a nice, service minded, flexible and easy going person, and even from the start, I felt I had known her for my whole life(it was like travelling together with an old friend). A lot of beautiful nature, lake, rivers, rice fields and terraces, mountains, villages, cultures, towns, people, food and fun. Driving on mountain roads and trails, from town to town, village to village and areas with different groups and tribes. Experiencing the villages and its people, how they live, how they produce their food, and also a lot of information and legends about the groups and places(from Nghia).
