Cao Bang province is located in northeast Vietnam around 272km from Hanoi. The province has borders with provinces of Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan and Lang Son. Cao Bang is mainly covered by the jungle and that the reason why Ho Chi Minh – the great Vietnamese revolutionary leader chose it as the base for the country revolutionary in 1950s.
The area has a rich history tracing to the Bronze Age of the Tay Au Kingdom in Vietnam. It is also the region where the Vietnamese people lived thousands of years ago before their southwards expansion. Thus Cao Bang has several points of historical interest as well as many natural landscapes such as the Pac Bo (at the mouth of the confluence of two rivers), Coc Bo cave, Lenin stream and Khuoi Nam stream, all have a history relating to Uncle Ho.
Cao Bang possesses a number of scenic attractions. Ban Gioc waterfall at the border between Vietnam and China is a well-known scenic tourist site. The fall pours down a height of 30m and spans 300m. At the top, the waterfall is divided in three parts by rocks and trees. The echo of the fall can be heard kilometers away from afar. And the nearby Nguom Ngao cave is also a site worth visiting.
