Love to hike out there, adventure, challenge, enjoy the nature of mother earth, camping, clean waterfall, nice view.
Auckland Region, New Zealand
The total trek is around 11-12 hours at a very fast pace and should only be attempted in one day by very experienced trekkers or athletes. I recently completed a half ironman triathlon (1.9k swim, 90k ride, 21k run) and found this trek to be of similar challenge. My girlfriend would be described as fit. Regular gym, ability to run 5-10km however she was unable to complete it within one day. I would only recommend the one day trek if you could comfortably run ~20km or are otherwise very experienced in trekking (or are indifferent to suffering).
Otherwise it is an incredibly rewarding experience albeit challenging even over 2 days and provides some incredible views (if the clouds clear!)
Definitely the highlight of the trip, I just wish we were better informed so we could have chosen the 2 day trek and I could have shared the whole experience with my girlfriend.
We book the trekking Fansipan trip over two days and enjoyed the trek. However, it is difficult to review the hike, because the change on the mountain is so significant, with the building of a cable car that will tranform the journey from a 2 day trek to a 15 minute ride. If you do want to read about the hike, and my thoughts on the cable car and the future of Fansipan
