Dubbed as “the precious jade of Vietnam”, Ba Be Lake lie in the middle of a vast limestone mountain range in Bac Kan province, 250km northwest of Hanoi.
Ba Be Lake is the largest and the most beautiful natural lake in Vietnam. The lake, which has been formed nearly 200 million years ago, actually comprises three small interconnecting lakes stretching about 8km in the north-south direction. Ba Be is surrounded by limestone cliffs and protected by the Ba Be National Park in which it is set in the middle. Its surface area expands of 500ha during the rainy season and never falls dry. The weather here is cool year around with an average temperature of 22 degree Celsius. The best time to visit is during the dry season (between winter and spring).
